Finding my creative self - again

I have been saying for many, many years that I envy the people who can make a living from selling the things they create and why couldn't I be one of those people. I have also been accumulating sewing, jewelry and craft supplies for quite some time. I even have an amazing Bernina sewing machine that has been sitting in storage for years.
I am a pretty creative person. I think I have a good eye for color combinations and a strong appreciation of unique fabrics and design. But the one element that was missing was a room that I could use to spread out my crafting "stuff" and have a creative space.
About two years ago when my husband and I started talking about looking for a bigger house (since we lived in a one bedroom with under 1000 square feet), on the top of my list for the new house was a room "just for me". After a year and a half in a horrible real estate market, we finally sold our house, found a new one, packed all our belongings, moved all our stuff, survived a flooded basement (long story) and settled into our new place. Soon after a few months of unpacking, organizing, finding fabric treasures in boxes that had been in storage for 5 years and locating a free desk, my sewing/crafting room was finally ready in February.
I will be honest as soon as the sewing machine was set up and I had re-oriented myself to it's usage, I was hooked. I really haven't done much more with my spare time than sew and work on my other newly learned skill of silversmithing. I spend time each evening reading blogs about sewing techniques, downloading free patterns, sewing different styles of bags just to brush up on my skills, and spending way too much money at the fabric store. But most of all, I was genuinely enjoying the process of creating. I didn't even mind ripping out a seam, which is something that in my youth would have caused the end of a project.
There is a sense of freedom, pride and immense pleasure within the creative process for me. I love the patterns, colors and textures of fabric. I love sharing the finished product. Every step in the process brings me joy. And now that I am about to share this blog with a wider audience and maybe sell some of my creations...I hope you love it too.
